Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Who we are and what the service is

Halal Hums is a web app that turns a MIDI file or an audio file into a music-free hum made from a real human voice. It is run by the maintainer of Halal Hums and is available at halalhums.com. By using it you agree to these terms.

“Halal” in our name describes our aim of using only a human voice, with no musical instruments. It is not a religious certification or fatwa, and you should follow your own scholars.

Using the service

You can load any MIDI file, audio file (the audio feature is in beta) or song and listen to it in your browser for free. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for. You are responsible for your own device, browser and internet connection.

Your files and your responsibility

You must own, or have permission to use, any MIDI or audio file you load into the app. Only use songs and recordings you have the rights to. A hummed version of a copyrighted song is still that song, so you are responsible for having the rights before you publish it anywhere.

We don't host, store or review your files. They are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to us.

Audio you make

You may use audio made from the built-in song library and from the original track "Lift Off" in your own videos, including monetised ones. Please keep the voice credit (Fluid R3 GM SoundFont, © 2000–2002, 2008 Frank Wen, MIT licence, see the licence text) where practical.

The library songs are public-domain compositions. Audio made from your own files is subject to the rights in those files, as explained above.

Acceptable use

Paid features and refunds

Listening is free. Halal Hums Pro is a one-time purchase (shown at checkout, currently about £4.99) that unlocks saving audio as WAV and sharing. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

Pro unlocks saving and sharing on the device or browser where you activate it. If you switch device or clear your browser data, you can restore Pro by entering the email address you bought with.

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record and reseller for the purchase, so Stripe's checkout terms also apply and your receipt comes from Stripe.

Refunds. You can have a full refund on request within 14 days of purchase. Ask by emailing rifatchow658@gmail.com or through the link on your Stripe receipt. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose, or that the audio it produces will meet your needs.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including lost data, lost earnings or claims relating to files you load or audio you publish. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can't be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example if the paid features change. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any rights you have under the mandatory consumer law of where you live.
